Taifead de Ghaeilge Thír Eoghain cuid II & III, (A recording of Tyrone Irish, part II & III)
Bheadh sé suimiúil fáil amach cá mhéad de a thuigeann cainteoirí Gaeilge an lae inniu agus foghlaimeoirí go háirithe.
Labhair sí go tapa go dearbh ach ba chainteoir soiléir í. Bhí Gaeilge Thir Eoghain ó thaobh fhoclóir agus gramadach de an chosúil le Gaeilge Thuaisceart Thír Chonall agus ó thaobh blas na bhfocal de, cosúil le Gaeilge lár Thír Chonaill.
This is part two and three of the recording made of Ellen Mary Biddy in 1996.
It would be interesting to find out how much of it is understood by contemporary Irish speakers, especially learners.
She spoke quickly, but clearly. Tyrone Irish was, in terms of vocabulary and grammar very close to that of North Donegal and in terms of 'blas', quite close to central Donegal.

Taifead de Ghaeilg Thír Eoghain Cuid I (A recording of native Tyrone Irish, part 1)
Seo taifeadán de Ghaeilg dhúchasach Chontae Thír Eoghain, rinneadh é i 1966. Is é Ellen Mary Biddy an cainteoir, agus is é Conn McCullagh atá ag caint léi.
Ba chainteoir dúchais é Conn ar an ábhar gurb as Rann na Feirsde a mháthair, ach bhí tionchar Gaeilge Thír Eoghain air agus tuigbheáil maith aige uirthi.
Ba é Gary Pentland as an Chorr Chríochadh a rinne an taifead, Protastúnach ab ea é agus ní raibh Gaeilge aige - ach bhí gléas taifeadáin aige.
Nuair a chuala Gary go raibh a leithéid de rud ann agus cainteoir dúchais Gaeilge gar dó, ar aghaidh leis chun taifeadán a dhéanamh.
This is a recording of native Tyrone Irish, the recording was made in 1966. The speaker's name was Ellen Mary Biddy, and Conn McCullagh is the name of the man speaking to her.
Conn was a native speaker also, but his mother was from Rann na Feirsde in Donegal. He had a good grasp of Tyrone Irish however.
The recording was made by a Cookstown man, Gary Pentland, a Protestant as it happens and he had no Irish at all. He had however a tape recorder and on hearing that native Irish existed in Tyrone, off he went to record it.
Seo roinnt eolas ar Ellen ó shárshuíomh Chiaráin Uí Dhuibhín.
Here is some information on Ellen from Ciarán Ó Duibhín's excellent website.
